Living Space Renovations in Collingwood

Rooms rebuilt properly, with the floors, light, and millwork they should have had.

Collingwood homes

What living space renovations usually means in Collingwood

Collingwood is a mix of year-round homes and ski and shoulder-season properties around Blue Mountain and Craigleith. A lot of the work here is turning a seasonal place into something comfortable in February, or finishing the lower level of a chalet so it sleeps the whole family.

Chalet and rental-property owners usually want work done between seasons. We plan Collingwood schedules around that window rather than fighting it.

Most houses have a room that never quite worked. The floor bounces, the lighting is one sad fixture in the middle of the ceiling, the trim is builder-grade, and the layout fights whatever you try to put in it.

Our work

A coffered ceiling in a cottage-country build

The brief was a bright, open living space that did not feel like a box. We built a coffered ceiling in white panelling, hung warm rattan pendants, and kept the floor and walls quiet so the ceiling could do the work.

It is a good example of what millwork does for a room. The footprint did not change. The ceiling is the reason it feels custom.

Collingwood questions

Straight answers, before you ask

Do you need a permit for living space renovations in Collingwood?

Permits are issued by the Town of Collingwood, and whether you need one depends on the scope. Structural changes, new plumbing, and new circuits almost always require one. We confirm the requirement for your address and handle the application and inspections as part of the job.

How far into Collingwood do you travel?

All of it, including Downtown Collingwood, Blue Mountain, Georgian Meadows, Craigleith. Collingwood is inside our normal working area, so you are not paying for a special trip.

Can you remove a wall to open up my main floor?

Usually yes. If it is load-bearing we bring in an engineer to size a beam, pull the permit, and support the structure while the beam goes in. We will tell you at the walkthrough which walls are likely structural.

Do you take on whole-home renovations?

Yes. We have taken century homes back to the studs and rebuilt them, including new wiring, insulation, ceilings, and finishes throughout.

Can you work around us living in the house?

In most cases. We contain the work zone and keep dust down, though for larger projects there are stretches where being elsewhere is much more pleasant.

Do you do custom built-ins and millwork?

That is our favourite part of the job. Shelving, mantels, wainscoting, and one-off live-edge pieces are all made by our own crew.
